Jan Kath
Jan Kath is a rising star of the international area rug and carpet industry. Born in 1972, Jan takes a distinct approach to flooring textiles, drawing inspiration from a diverse range of sources. Originally from Bochum, Jan weaves together classical elements of oriental carpets with contemporary, minimalist design to create his signature modern aesthetic.
Jan’s carpets have earned a position amongst the most highly sought-after soft flooring products worldwide, and can be found everywhere from the homes of Arabian royalty to the Hawaiian villa of rock star Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. His carpets have also graced the floors of private suites at the Cairo Four Seasons hotel, luxury yachts of multinational oil conglomerates, and the showrooms of leading Parisian fashion labels.
A self-dubbed “couturier for floors”, Jan approaches each project differently, depending on its unique needs. For large-scale projects such as luxury hotels, exclusive shops, or airport VIP lounges, Jan produces high-quality, hand-tufted area rugs specifically designed to withstand the demands of high traffic areas.
For more exclusive contract locations, his hand-knotted rugs add an unmatchable level of luxury and textural richness. Comprised of up to 450 knots per 6.45 square centimetres – or square inch – Jan’s hand-knotted area rugs achieve a level of quality and craftsmanship that few around the world can replicate.
